"To make the impossible possible, the hard easy, and the easy elegant and pleasant."
— Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais
The Founder: Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. Moshe Feldenkrais was a visionary Israeli scientist, engineer, and Judo master. After suffering a severe knee injury and finding conventional medicine lacking, he embarked on a lifelong journey to heal himself. By combining his scientific background in physics with principles from martial arts and various movement methods, he discovered how to reorganize the body’s functioning through the brain's capacity to learn. He lived a full, active life without surgery, eventually using his discoveries to help thousands of others worldwide.
What is the Feldenkrais Method?
The Feldenkrais Method is a movement-based approach designed to refine personal abilities and improve overall quality of life.
- Refining Movement: It improves posture, walking, sitting, and flexibility.
- Skill Enhancement: It teaches more efficient self-use for any goal, from professional sports to the performing arts.
- Creative Recovery: It provides tools to handle physical limitations, injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation with greater ease and creativity.
- Better Organization: It promotes better physical orientation and awareness of both our internal state and the environment around us.
How are the lessons conducted?
- ATM (Awareness Through Movement): Group movement lessons guided by an instructor. Each lesson is a complete, standalone process, allowing you to join at any stage.
- FI (Functional Integration): A private, one-on-one lesson. Through precise and sensitive touch, the instructor moves the student, guiding the body toward a better, lighter, and more efficient organization.
A Living Legacy
Since the 1960s, Dr. Feldenkrais dedicated himself to passing on his vast knowledge. In Tel Aviv, he trained a core group of senior students to ensure his method would continue to thrive. Today, to honor the complexity and depth of the method, Feldenkrais teacher training programs are led by at least four different trainers. This unique approach ensures that students experience the many facets and perspectives of this life-changing method.
